Chakra Balancing For Healthy Skin

Chakra Balancing For Healthy Skin

As many of us know, healthy skin comes from more than just cleansing, toning and moisturizing our skin. Radiant and glowing skin also comes from the foods we eat, our ability to relax, have good thoughts about ourselves and maintain an overall sense of well-being.

One way to supplement our skin care routines is to practice ways to balance our chakras which help the body to relax therefore reducing stress which allows for better sleep leading to healthier skin.

Our skin is our largest organ, and can manifest many disorders, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and dermatitis, among others.

Although skin issues can surface as a result of poor diet, stress, hormonal issues, and poor skincare regimen, they can also surface as a result of a chakra imbalance.

This post does not do justice for all of the ways that exist to balance our chakras, but it's a start and if it is something that interests you, feel free to continue doing further research.

Everything is energy, with its own vibrational frequency. Chakras are energy vortexes that exist within each of us.

WHAT ARE CHAKRAS?

Chakras are basically the energetic version of the physical body, thus referred to as the "energy body".

You can think of our chakra system as a spiritual blood stream. Our chakra system connects and supports our physical self and our energy self. When we get in touch with the energy within our chakras, we connect with ourselves more fully, and learn how to heal ourselves on all levels, creating true holistic healing.

WHAT DOES "CHAKRA" MEAN?

The word chakra, from ancient Sanskrit, means “wheel or circle”. In the energy anatomy of our bodies, there are an estimated 88,000 of these circles or centers of energy. Seven of these chakras are widely recognized and have become the focal point of the many mind-body approaches to wellness and healing.

According to ancient Hindu practice and many modern yoga teachers, there are 7 chakras along the energetic body where prana, or life force, flows. If one of the chakras gets blocked, this can lead to specific ailments depending on where we are holding tension.

HOW CAN I BALANCE MY CHAKRAS?

The following are brief descriptions of each chakra, some activities and affirmations to activate and clear or balance each chakra which can help us to relax and reset.

Whether you're into this kind of thing or a little more on the skeptical side give it a try. Work your way down the list, or pick one based on your current mood.

Root Chakra

1 - Root Chakra:

The root chakra is all about being grounded, feeling secure that our basic needs are being met, and feeling connected to our family and tribal consciousness in healthy ways. This is our Security Center our “Foundation or support.” This chakra relates to survival, groundedness, and ties to our family.

Activities: Go for a walk. Spend time in nature. Whenever possible walk barefoot on grass or sand.  As it relates to family, even if we're socially isolated from them, we can have a family FaceTime or group chat.

Affirmations: I am grounded stable and secure. I nurture my body with healthy food, clean water, exercise, relaxation, and connection with nature. I am grateful for all the challenges that helped me to grow and transform. I make choices that are healthy and good for me.

Sacral Chakra

2 - Sacral Chakra

This energy center governs the foundational energy of our personal power, creativity, and sexuality. Compassionate self-talk directed inward is critical to ensuring the healthy flow of energy through this center.

Activities: Dance! Especially dances that move the hip area. Practice hula-hooping. Cooking, painting, writing -- spend some time creatively expressing yourself.

Affirmations: I feel with passion and trust. I love and enjoy my body. I am open to experiencing the present moment through my senses. I feel pleasure and abundance with every breath I take. I value and respect my body. Emotions are the language of my soul.

Solar plexus chakra

3 - Solar Plexus Chakra

This chakra is the center of our personal power and confidence. It fuels the fire of digestion and governs our ability to digest our life. Be aware of what we put in our body.

What we take in through our eyes and ears effects the digestive system as much as the food we eat. This is our power center. Ignite your inner fire. This chakra is all about taking confident action.

Activities: Start adding green smoothies to your daily nutrition. Enroll in an online course or read a self-help book such as Jen Sincero's You Are a Badass or Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yes:.

Affirmations: I can and I do, with confidence and joy. I love and accept myself. I am worthy of love, kindness and respect. I feel my own power. I seek opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. I am at peace with myself.

Heart Chakra Symbol

4 - Heart Chakra

This is our love center. Spread love! This fourth chakra opens and flows when we have arrived at self-acceptance. A place of openness, this center offers a safe haven for gaining the wisdom of non-judgment of our self and others.

Activities: Practice forgiveness -- of yourself and others. Buy yourself a bouquet of roses. Roses resonate with the heart chakra. Send a friend just-because flowers or mail a handwritten letter.

Affirmations: I love openly and easily. I live in balance, in a state of gratefulness and gratitude. I forgive myself. I am open to love and kindness. I am peaceful.

Throat Chakra Symbol

5 - Throat chakra

This chakra is the center of expression. Healthy boundaries and effective communication are aligned within the flow of this energy center. Self-criticism sends our emotional well-being into flux, causing the chakras to restrict and lose energy. Becoming mindful of how we talk to ourselves helps us be aware of where we are gaining or losing energy.

Activities: Take up journaling, make a vision board, and get in touch with your inner voice. Practice chanting, singing, reading aloud or humming. Drink teas that soothe the throat, like peppermint, slippery elm or spearmint.

Affirmations: I speak my truth with clarity and confidence. I am open, clear, and honest in my communication. I have a right to speak my truth. I nourish my spirit through creativity. I know when it is time to listen. I listen to my body and my feelings to know what my truth is.

Third Eye Chakra Symbol

6 Third-Eye Chakra

The 6th chakra affects our capacity to think and reason. Seen as the center of higher wisdom, it aids in the awakening of our eternal truth, giving us a vision of what lies beyond the physical realm. This is our perception center. Here lies our sense of intuition.

Activities: Establish a daily meditation practice. This enhances and opens the potential of this powerful energy center. Tap into it through yoga or relaxing bath. Set the intention that you wish to connect to your inner wisdom.

Affirmations: I see clearly and know intuitively. I am in touch with my inner guidance. I seek to understand and to learn from my life experiences. I trust my intuition. I forgive the past and learn what was there for me to learn. I forgive myself. I am connected with the wisdom of the universe.

Crown Chakra Symbol

7 - Crown chakra

This is our spiritual center. This chakra connects us to our soulful nature, offering self-realization through clarity of thought and purpose.

Activities: Create a gratitude practice by journaling 3 things you are grateful every morning. Find a podcast that teaches healthy breath-work techniques. Practice morning yoga sun salutations.

Affirmations: I understand and hear clearly. I honor the divine within me. I cherish my spirit. I am open to letting go of my attachments. I live in the present moment. My life moves with grace.
